It's Time to Vote in the Mackenzie District

Mackenzie voters can now cast their votes in the 2013 local authority elections.

Voting papers have been mailed out to registered voters. They now have two weeks for forms to be filled in and returned before the recommended last day to post of Wednesday, October 9. This will ensure documents arrive before voting closes at midday on Election Day, Saturday 12 October.

People who have not received their voting papers by 25 September should contact the Mackenzie District Council Electoral Officer - Paul Morris Ph 03 685 9010.

The voting papers will use both the First Past the Post (FPP) and Single Transferable Voting (STV) voting systems.

The Mackenzie District Council elections are using the FPP system, with voters required to put a tick alongside the candidate/s they wish to vote for. The South Canterbury District Health Board election will use the STV voting system, with voters required to rank the candidates they want to vote for in order of preference (ie 1, 2, 3, 4, etc).

More information about the candidates can be found on the Mackenzie District Council website www.mackenzie.govt.nz
