Council candidates answer the farmers in Manawatu-Rangitikei
With voting for the 2013 council elections closing on 12 October, Federated Farmers Manawatu-Rangitikei is publicly releasing the answers to questions it put to all candidates seeking election. Answers that have attracted 1,540 page views to date.
“Some of the answers underscore why it is vital to vote,” says Andrew Hoggard, Federated Farmers Manawatu-Rangitikei provincial president.
“Federated Farmers asked the same five questions of each candidate standing for Horizons Regional Council, Manawatu District Council, Rangitikei District Council and Horowhenua District Council.
“We believe the replies are of vital importance to rural and urban ratepayers alike. If you attended a meeting in an urban area, then I would ask you to compare what you heard with the replies given to rural voters.
“It emphasises why people who have not voted have a responsibility to cast their votes responsibly. If you haven’t voted, then grab your computer and hop onto our links (below) to see how candidates measure up in town and country.
“Be informed. Vote informed,” Mr Hoggard urged.
