45 needed for new early morning Petone lane-swimming

Early morning swimmers rejoice – McKenzie Baths in Petone is looking to establish lane swimming sessions for early risers.

Keen swimmers can now buy an ‘Iceberg Ticket’, which will give them lane-swimming access between 6am – 8.30am on weekday mornings. The tickets, which will cost $95.00 for the three summer months, will cover the cost of early morning pool supervision.

“Early morning lane swimming sessions have been happening at Eastbourne Pool for the last eight years,” says Stephen Keatley, Recreation Facilities Manager at Hutt City Council.

“The sessions are popular and with the McKenzie Baths re-opening after a $2.3 million redevelopment, now seems the perfect time to kick these off at Petone too.”

However, to go ahead the programme will need at least 45 people to sign up. If the numbers are not reached by Wednesday 27 November the programme will not go ahead.

Tickets can be purchased by calling Swim City on 567 0043 or people can pick up a form at Huia or Naenae pool.

The programme runs from Monday 2 December 2013 to Friday 14 March 2014 (Public holidays and weekends are excluded)
