QLDC seeks views on alcohol availability

QLDC seeks views on alcohol availability

Community views on the availability of alcohol throughout the Queenstown Lakes District will help shape a new Local Alcohol Policy that QLDC intends to develop.

The Council has created an on-line survey which invites people to give their views on a range of issues, including the availability of alcohol, the location of liquor outlets and closing hours for licensed premises.

The survey also seeks to find out community attitudes towards underage drinking, responsible drinking and the effectiveness – or otherwise – of the existing liquor laws and regulations.

QLDC Regulatory Manager Lee Webster said that a Local Alcohol Policy would be flexible enough to cater for the different needs, expectations and preferences of all the various communities within the District. Wanaka and Queenstown already have different closing hours, for example.

The survey is open until 1 November at:  http://fluidsurveys.com/surveys/qldc/qldc-alcohol-survey/
