Enrol by 30 October to Vote the Easy Way

Enrol by 30 October to Vote the Easy Way in Christchurch East

Enrol by Wednesday 30 October to make voting in the Christchurch East by-election easier. That’s the message from the Electoral Commission in the lead-up to the 30 November by-election.

“Enrol by next Wednesday to make sure you get your EasyVote pack,” says Glen Clark, Registrar of Electors, Christchurch East Electorate. “The pack contains your EasyVote card, and all the information you need to vote in the by-election – candidates, voting places and the times they’re open,” says Mr Clark.

“If you’re not enrolled or have moved house or flat and haven’t updated your address details with us you need to re-enrol now,” says Glen Clark. “And if you’re not sure whether you’re eligible to enrol in Christchurch East, contact us now to check. We don’t want anyone to miss out.”

Enrolling is quick and easy. Enrolment forms are available from the elections website www.elections.org.nz, by Freetexting your name and address to 3676, from any PostShop or by calling Freephone 0800 36 76 56. People can update their details by filling in a new enrolment form or going online to www.elections.org.nz.

To be eligible to enrol in the Christchurch East electorate you must:
• Be 18 years of age or over; and
• Be a New Zealand citizen or permanent resident who has lived in New Zealand continuously for 12 months at some time; and
• Have lived in Christchurch East for more than one month

If you are living outside the electorate temporarily but are planning to return, you may be eligible to enrol and vote. Check now at www.elections.org.nz or by calling 0800 36 76 56.
