Hastings Councillors to be sworn in
tomorrow
Hastings Mayor and Councillors will
be sworn into office at an official ceremony to be held in
the District Council chambers tomorrow.
The recent Local Government elections resulted in three new Councillors being elected to serve the people of Hastings District during the next term.
Mayor Lawrence Yule and the 11 returning councillors will be joined by George Lyons (Heretaunga ward) and Malcolm Dixon and Adrienne Pearce (Hastings-Havelock North ward).
The swearing in ceremony will be followed by the election of the Deputy Mayor and the naming of Committee Chairmen and their deputies.
Once the Council meeting has concluded, declarations will be taken from members of the Hastings District Rural Community Board who will then elect a Chairman.
Members of the public are welcome to attend the ceremony which will begin at 2.00pm, Thursday 31st October 2013 in the Council Chambers.
