AA delighted Transmission Gully
construction set to begin
The AA is
welcoming news that the long-awaited Transmission Gully
project will start next year.
Prime Minister John Key made the announcement in Wellington today.
"This is great news for the region," says AA Motoring Affairs General Manager Mike Noon
"Transmission Gully will not only reduce travel times for motorists and boost economic activity but it will be much safer. A modern, multi-lane, divided highway will significantly reduce the number of fatal and serious crashes from the current route.
"Transmission Gully will also provide a much-needed alternative route in the event of a major natural disaster."
The AA has been a long-time campaigner for Transmission Gully and our Wellington Members have overwhelmingly supported the project when surveyed.
"The public have been asking for this route to be built for decades and the AA congratulates the Government on moving forward with this much-needed highway."
