It’s Showtime!

The country’s largest agricultural and pastoral show, the Canterbury A&P Show, opens tomorrow in Christchurch. For three days a year country comes to town with a unique mix of animals and agriculture, fabulous food and wine and heaps of free family entertainment.

“It’s been a busy few weeks at the showground’s, preparing for the country’s largest A&P Show and the largest event in the South Island. We’ve been putting the finishing touches to the grounds, exhibitor sites and animals. We are expecting around 100,000 people to attend the event over the next three days.

It’s a mammoth task hosting an event of this size but with the help of over 500 volunteers who contribute more than 20,000 voluntary hours, we are ready to welcome Show crowds through the gates at 8am tomorrow,” said Canterbury A&P Association President Mark Fleming.

Highlights this year include performances by X Factor winner Jackie Thomas, the New Zealand Army Band and the Funky Hot Mamas; foodies’ heaven with some of the nation’s finest food and wine on offer; thrilling rides in the carnival area; close to 6000 livestock and feature competition entries; plus an amazing 3000 animals.

“With a packed entertainment programme and plenty of free attractions, the Canterbury A&P Show is one of the most affordable events in the country. Families come to the Canterbury A&P Show year after year, creating lifelong memories. The event celebrates all that is great about the region” added Fleming.

The 2013 Canterbury A&P Show will be held Wednesday 13 to Friday 15 November at Canterbury Agricultural Park in
Christchurch. It is the largest A&P Show in the country attracting 100,000 people, close to 6000 livestock and feature competition entries and 550 trade exhibitors.
