Investors Checking Out Local Businesses

Investors Checking Out Local Businesses

Dunedin (Wednesday, 13 November 2013) – Some Dunedin businesses keen to attract investors will be putting forward their ideas over the next two days.

A group from the Office of Ethnic Affairs will be in Dunedin tomorrow and on Friday. The visit is part of the Office’s Connecting the Regions initiative, which connects local companies with investors from Southeast Asia and China who are now living in New Zealand.

The visit is being hosted by the Dunedin City Council’s Economic Development Unit.

DCC Business Development Advisor Chanel O’Brien says the visit is a chance to attract outside investment to the city and establish new relationships.

“The objective is for Dunedin to profile its regional economic perspectives, strategies and opportunities, to showcase new industries and high-growth industries and to visit Dunedin companies that have expressed an interest in meeting investors.”

This week’s visit will focus on the health and information technology sectors and food and beverage industries.

The group will comprise five investors, two staff from the Office of Ethnic Affairs and the Executive Director of the Economic Development Agencies of New Zealand, Samantha Seath.

While in Dunedin, the group will visit some businesses, take a tour of the city, discuss new distribution channels the city could develop and establish relationships with each other to encourage opportunities for investment.
