Pūhoi to Warkworth proposal opens for submissions
16 November 2013
The Environmental Protection Authority has announced the proposal to build a new road from Pūhoi to Warkworth is now open for public submissions.
The New Zealand Transport Agency’s application has been referred to an independent board of inquiry, which must make a decision within nine months.
The EPA’s General Manager for Applications and Assessments, Sarah Gardner, says submissions are a vital part of the board of inquiry process.
“Anyone who wants to share their views on this proposal can do so by making a submission.”
People can make submissions online through the EPA website (www.epa.govt.nz), or in writing.
The EPA is holding two information sessions to explain the board of inquiry process and answer questions.
“We welcome anyone who is interested to come to a session to learn how they can have their say on the proposal,” says Mrs Gardner.
The EPA has also appointed Trevor Mackie from Hill Young Cooper as the independent “Friend of Submitter”.
His role is to help people understand the process and how to access information, and he’ll be holding drop-in sessions to give people one-on-one support on how to participate in the board of inquiry process.
Submissions on the proposal, which is officially called ‘Ara Tūhono - Pūhoi to Wellsford Road of National Significance: Pūhoi to Warkworth section’ must be received by the EPA by 5pm on Friday 13 December 2013.
