Treble Cone (Wanaka, NZ) has been announced as the inaugural winner of New Zealand’s Best Ski Resort at the World Ski Awards held in Kitzbuhel, Austria over the weekend.
The World Ski Awards presentation was held in Kitzbuhel, Austria, attended by an audience of snow sports industry professionals and stakeholders from all around the world, to announce the winners which were voted upon online by a mix of ski tourism executives, travel buyers, tour operators, media professionals, and the skiing public.
The World Ski Awards serves to celebrate and reward excellence in ski tourism through their annual awards programme. World Ski Awards is part of the World Travel Awards which are currently celebrating their 20th birthday, and are heralded as ‘the Oscars of the travel industry’.
Other iconic New Zealand businesses recognised at the 2013 World Snow Awards are the Hilton Queenstown Resort and Spa which won Best Ski Hotel, Eichardt’s Private Hotel which won Best Boutique Ski Hotel, and the Azur Luxury Lodge which won Best Ski Chalet.
In 2013 the global ski tourism marketplace is estimated to deliver 400 million skier visits across 2,000 ski resorts spread across 80 countries.
