Te Mana o Ngāti Rangitihi launches new website and brand
The new and improved website for Te Mana o Ngāti Rangitihi Trust (‘Te Mana’) has gone live and Hapai-O Anthony Ol sen says this is an important channel for Te Mana to connect with the iwi.
“We have a large number of iwi members now living outside of our tribal region, either in other parts of Aotearoa or off-shore, and we need to ensure everyone is able to connect with home.
“We want the website to be a living resource where our people can go to share news and views but also for Te Mana to have the ability to post videos and photographs that will help with educating our iwi on their whakapapa, Reo and history, particularly for those people who don’t get to come home very often,” said Mr Olsen.
The website remains at www.ngatirangitihi.iwi.nz but now includes features that will allow greater engagement with iwi and whānau members. These new features include a ‘questions and answers’ page so iwi members can communicate direct with Te Mana on important matters such as a comprehensive Treaty of Waitangi settlement. An ‘Archives’ section will contain historical information and various documents that have been sourced from museums and national archives.
Both the website and a new brand, also launched today, were two outcomes from part of a full communications review, which identified the need for better versatility to represent Te Mana across a range of channels. The new brand was developed with input from tribal beneficiaries, and Te Mana staff and Trustees.
The logo represents the connection Ngāti Rangitihi has with the land and the sea. This is set in front of a silhouette of the tribal maunga, Mount Tarawera, with its highest peak Ruawāhia at the centre. In the foreground are the flowing rivers of Te Awa o Te Atua that flow out to the coastline of the Eastern Bay of Plenty. The double koru symbolises the unity and coming together of the iwi.
“This is an important time for our iwi, as we look towards the future and the potential for negotiations with the Crown. So, keeping everyone up-to-date and across as much information as possible is a key focus for Te Mana.
“The new website will work across all hand held devices, which is something we couldn’t offer previously,” said Mr Olsen.
