Ring the Bell For the Philippines
With disaster recently striking the Philippines, The Zookeeper’s Son locals from Royal Oak have dug deep to raise funds for Oxfam’s Super Typhoon Haiyan Appeal.
The team at The Zookeeper’s Son organised a Karma Keg for the weekend and with the help of their loyal customers, raised over $1,000 for the appeal.
After watching the news and seeing over 700,000 people had been displaced, Dave Catchpole, director of The Zookeeper’s Son, knew that he needed to do something to help out.
“Countries around the world helped us out when disaster struck Christchurch so I feel it’s important that we help out our neighbouring countries when they’re in need. At the end of the day, it could have been us that the typhoon hit” says Catchpole.
The money raised by The Zookeeper’s Son will provide accommodation for 4 displaced families, 100 emergency kits and at least 10 buckets for providing clean water.
“Making sure people have clean water, safe sanitation and a roof over their heads is an immediate priority” says Marie Madamba-Nunez from Oxfam, Philippines.
