Whanau day for Tachikawa workers tomorrow

November 29 2013

Whanau day for Tachikawa workers tomorrow

Tachikawa workers and their families will gather tomorrow for a Whanau Day at a local Rotorua marae.

There will be presents for the kids, an all-day barbeque and bands and singers.

“The last month has been very stressful for former Tachikawa workers. Tomorrow is a chance for people to come together and relax with their whanau and workmates and enjoy some time together before Christmas,” said Syd Keepa, president, FIRST Union.

In October Tachikawa Forest Products was placed into receivership, affecting over 120 workers. Workers haven’t yet received any payment of monies owed from wages, redundancy and holiday pay, but are hopeful some payment may be received before Christmas.

Where: Apumoana Marae, Tarawera Rd.
When: 10am – 3pm, Saturday 30 November.
