Ford New Zealand provides ‘Wheels for Wings’ for the Auckland City Mission’s Christmas appeal
AUCKLAND, 2 December 2013: Proudly supporting Auckland City Mission’s Christmas appeal efforts, Ford New Zealand is providing ‘Wheels for Wings’ in the form of two Ford Transits, including a new Transit Custom. The specially sign-written Transits will be roving all over the Auckland region collecting donations from businesses and organisations from now until mid-January.
Each Christmas the Auckland City Mission’s passionate Santa’s Helpers roll up their sleeves to help struggling Aucklanders enjoy a truly memorable Christmas. The Mission raises funds, collects gifts and non-perishable food items towards the Christmas Appeal. For 2013, the Mission’s aim is to raise $1 million to give to Auckland families in need.
In addition, the Mission is making Friday 6 December 2013 “Angel Day.” For the first time, all Santa’s Helpers have a special day to “Become Someone’s Angel” and raise the most funds they can.
“We’re really happy to help,” said Corey Holter, Managing Director Ford New Zealand. “It’s great to get the Transits out doing what they do best and all for a great cause. In addition to providing the Transits, Ford staff including myself will be pitching in to help out at the Mission.”
The Mission has created a dedicated “Become Someone’s Angel” fundraising page. On the page people and organisations can post their fundraising efforts and help spread the word. They can also share achievements online and challenge friends, relatives and business associates to help join the efforts.
In 2012, Auckland workplaces raised much-needed funds and gifts through staff collections, ‘casual Friday’ donations and other initiatives to help less fortunate Auckland families. Altogether, the Mission distributed 7000 Christmas gifts, and 2000 families received food parcels.
