Boost to Rakino Island ferry services

3 December 2013

Boost to Rakino Island ferry services

Auckland Transport and Belaire Ferries are trialling some changes to the ferry service to Rakino Island.

Over the summer there will be extra sailings to Rakino, this is in response to a significant jump in the number of passengers going to the island. There have been more than 3300 passenger journeys already this year, an increase on last year (Jan to Oct) of 24 per cent.

Customers have also asked for pick-ups at Stanley Bay and that new service starts this week on selected sailings.

As a trial, until 9 February 2014, Stanley Bay passengers will be picked up before the departure from Auckland to Rakino Island and will be dropped off after the service returns to Auckland, there will be a surcharge of $2 for all passengers travelling between Auckland and Stanley Bay.

See www.belaire.co.nz for a complete summer timetable and details of the Stanley Bay trial.

Belaire Ferries has a Pest Free Warrant to keep Rakino Island pest free. Please check bags and gear for rats, mice, Argentine ants, rainbow skinks, soils and seeds.

Check out www.treasureislands.co.nz for information on keeping our islands pest free.
