Slip repair to resume on Baker Road

9 December 2013

Media advisory: Slip repair to resume on Baker Road

Work will resume on Wednesday 11 December to repair a slip on Baker Road, near the intersection of Wairamarama-Onewhero Road. This is part of the repair undertaken earlier this year, which had to be put on hold due to bad weather.

The remaining work will involve fixing the slip, where the bank above the road is falling down onto the road, by removing the loose material and reshaping the slope to increase stability.

A rock wall will be constructed, along with repairs to the existing wall. The work will also include a drainage upgrade.

Please take care when travelling near this area as the excavator will need to work on the road, but traffic will be allowed through intermittently. Expect delays of up to three minutes.

The work is expected to take two weeks, weather dependent.
