Northpower – Cyclone Lusi ... Update 1

Northpower – Cyclone Lusi ... Update 1

Northpower Limited advises that around 2000 customers in the Whangarei District have been experiencing power outages since shortly after 9am.

The areas affected are Hikurangi, Pataua, Ruakaka, McLeod Bay and Parua Bay.

Lines crews have been dispatched to the affected areas and are currently working to repair faults on four of Northpower’s 11,000 volt feeders.

At Whangarei Heads a shed blew through power lines, while trees through lines have caused outages also.

Northpower asks that people report the potential cause of any power outages to the Northpower Faults line – 0800-10-40-40.

Members of the public should remain clear of downed power lines at all times, keep others clear and also keep animals away.

Northpower’s electricity network held up well through the night but as the weather has deteriorated this morning more faults are occurring.

Recorded outage and restoration updates will be made throughout the duration of Cyclone Lusi on Northpower’s fault’s line.
