Wanaka Community Pool on track

Media Advisory - Wanaka Community Pool

The Wanaka Community Pool is on track to reopen in the first week in October, following earthquake strengthening.

QLDC General Manager Operations Ruth Stokes said that site preparation was almost complete; a consent for the structural work was expected before the end of the week and the strengthening would begin on Monday.

It was likely to take a week, after which some reinstatement work would be required, including replacing solar panels on the roof. As well, the routine maintenance that was originally to have been done in July during the annual maintenance shut-down will be done at this time.

Once all the work is finished, the interior would be cleaned and the pool reheated. A definite reopening date would be confirmed nearer the time, Mrs Stokes said.
