Update on Waiuku dog attack

Two dogs seized by Waikato District Council following a serious attack in Waiuku on Tuesday night remain impounded while staff and family discuss the future of the 5 year old male mastiff involved.

General Manager Customer Support, Sue Duignan says “Both dogs are registered to a Whangarei address but were being cared for at the Waiuku property when the attack occurred. Because of this there are a number of scenarios we need to work through with the victim’s family and the dogs’ owner.

“Understandably this is a difficult time for everyone involved but we’re pleased to learn the victim of this attack has come through surgery well her recovery looks positive.”
