District Plan Review - Further Submissions

District Plan Review - Further Submissions

Submissions received on stage one of the Proposed Christchurch Replacement District Plan are now available for viewing - either online (proposeddistrictplan.ccc.govt.nz) or at any Council service centre or library.

Around 1100 submissions were received and these are now available for online viewing and also printed out in hard copies that are available to be viewed at all Council service centres and libraries.

"It's good to see so many people voicing their opinion on things that matter to them in our community," says Mike Theelen, the Council's Chief Planning Officer.

"There is now an opportunity for anyone who is interested to read through the submissions received and to make a further submission either supporting or objecting to a submission already made," says Mike Theelen.

Further submissions must either support or object to an initial submission (so can't be on new issues that weren't raised in initial submissions). They can be made by:

* anyone representing a relevant aspect of the public interest
* anyone with an interest greater than the general public
* the Minister for Canterbury Earthquake Recovery
* the Minister for the Environment
* the Christchurch City Council.

You don't need to have made an initial submission to be able to make a further submission.

Further submissions can be made through the online portal at proposeddistrictplan.ccc.govt.nz or on a hard copy of the submission form - which can be scanned and emailed back to the Council at dpreview@ccc.govt.nz or dropped in to the Council's civic offices, 53 Hereford Street, Christchurch.

There is a 10 working day period for making a further submission. This closes on Thursday 6 November 2014.

An independent hearings panel will hear submissions and make decisions on the plan, with appeals on those decisions being limited to points of law only. Dates for the hearings are still to be confirmed by the panel.

The Replacement District Plan will be completed by April 2016.
