Dynamic Duo going the extra mile to support those in desperate need

Auckland City Missioner, Diane Robertson and Auckland City Mission Foundation Chair, Rob Campbell are going the extra mile in their support of Aucklanders in desperate need by signing on as part of the Mission’s Auckland Marathon Team. Both Ms Robertson and Mr Campbell have committed to running the half marathon, which is 21 kms, and raising $1,500 each, which will contribute to the Mission Marathon Team’s overall fundraising goal of $50,000.

Usually found in board rooms and company offices the duo are now pounding the pavement in an attempt to be fighting fit and marathon ready. Ms Robertson outlines how they became involved “Rob called me up saying he’d join the team if I would. Once the challenge was issued I had no choice but to become involved because I couldn’t be seen as the one to let the larger Mission team down! It has been a hard road but is a great reminder about how committed people are in their support of the Mission’s work. My appreciation and respect for everyone in our Mission Marathon Team has increased even further.”

Ms Robertson adds “The Mission Marathon Team still needs donations to reach our overall goal of $50,000. All donations for members of our team are greatly appreciated. The funds will be applied to core Mission operating costs, which allow us to be there every day for Aucklanders in desperate need. Donations can be made at: www.fundraiseonline.co.nz/AucklandCityMissionAuck2014.”

The ASB Auckland Marathon is on Sunday 2nd November.
