Two Kiwi Icons Team up for Ultimate Tourism Partnership

SKYCITY Auckland has today announced a new partnership that will see renowned AJ Hackett Bungy New Zealand take over the operation of the iconic Sky Tower’s SkyJump and SkyWalk adventure tourism activities.

The Sky Tower is the tallest free-standing structure in the Southern Hemisphere which attracts more than 410,000 visitors annually. SkyJump, which involves a 192m controlled fall, began operating in December 2001, and since then nearly 150,000 people have taken the plunge. The SkyWalk activity, which sees visitors complete a 360 degree circumference of the Tower at 192m, was added in December 2007.

SKYCITY Auckland General Manager John Mortensen says SKYCITY Auckland is one of New Zealand’s leading tourist destinations, and together with Bungy New Zealand, which operates the AJ Hackett brand, will bring the very best in adventure tourism right to the heart of Auckland city.

About the Sky Tower’s SkyJump and SkyWalk activities:

- Since December 2001 more than 149,000 people have jumped 192m from the Sky Tower
- More than 42,000 people have done the SkyWalk, which involves a 360 degree guided walk on a platform around the outside of the Sky Tower at 192m, and began operating in December 2007.
