Kapiti Run for Youth well on-track to raise $20K

Kapiti Run for Youth well on-track to raise $20K for Kapiti youth

Sunday 2 November dawned cloudy and was forecasting strengthening northerlies. True to word there was no rain yet the wind on the beach was fierce meaning runners and walking flew south, however heading home was much tougher being battered about.

“This did not dampen spirits though as we had around 400 very positive people show to participate in the event,” said Richard Calkin of Web Genius. The group was diverse with individuals and business groups made-up of mums, dads, grandparents, kids and lots of pet dogs on leashes all out to have fun on the Kapiti Coast beach front while raising money for Kapiti youth. Everyone wore their business brand proudly and some even dressed up for the occasion making for a very colourful and fun atmosphere.

Richard says “Sponsorship will remain open online for another two weeks so we are confident with what we know so far that we have achieved our $20,000 target. As a Committee, we feel really terrific about this as much work and planning goes on behind the scenes to make an event such as this happen.”

Richard went on to say that “Kapiti is a small community and the economic environment is still pretty tight out there so we are wrapped with this tentative result as Kapiti youth with benefit from the commitment of other local people.” The Committee that work with Richard are Terry Poko of Youth Quest, Richard van Eck of Low Tax Accounting, Peter Jackson of Peter Jackson Plumbing and Helene Judge of Kapiti Business Projects. This team agrees the cause is fundamentally good as youth are close to peoples’ hearts and the fact that all participants actually get out and do something meaningful, fun and healthy adds more value to those that choose to sponsor them.
