Busy day for Tauranga's rescue helicopter
Today the Tauranga based Trustpower TECT Rescue helicopter was called to transport three patients, the first call was to transfer a 68 year old Tauranga woman to Waikato hospital for specialist treatment for a medical condition.
On returning to Tauranga the helicopter was tasked to fly an eight year old Tauranga girl to Auckland’s Starship hospital, she had been kicked by a horse, receiving serious head injuries. She was accompanied by her mother on the flight to Starship where she will received specialist treatment.
Not long after returning from Auckland the Trustpower TECT rescue helicopter was dispatched to Matamata where an 83 year old local man had been found unconscious in his home, he had suffered a serious medical event and was stabilised by local St John staff before being flown to Waikato hospital in a critical condition.
Philips Search and Rescue Trust is a charitable organisation, operating rescue helicopters throughout the Central North Island. Philips Search and Rescue Trust relies on support from principal sponsors and community donations. Special thanks to Tauranga’s principal sponsors, Trustpower and TECT. This crucial financial support ensures our rescue helicopters can continue to bring life-saving equipment, rescue personnel and trauma-trained medics directly to the patient.
