Speed restrictions and minor delays on SH2 this month as Tauranga Eastern Link works continue
Motorists travelling on State Highway 2 (SH2) between Te Maunga and Welcome Bay Road over the next week are asked to drive with extra care, with several key areas on the Tauranga Eastern Link project undergoing changes.
Stop/go traffic management and speed restrictions of 30km/h will temporarily be in place on three stretches of the highway from this weekend, to allow contractors to lay bridge beams on the Mangatawa interchange and to start work on the Tauranga bound slip lane, among other works.
Sunday December 14 - SH2 between Te Maunga and Bruce Road
From 6pm all traffic will be diverted onto the Mangatawa interchange northern on and off ramps to allow contractors to place the Mangatawa interchange beams. Motorists should expect short delays until the work is complete at 6am Monday December 15.
Sunday December 14 – SH2 between Domain Road and Welcome Bay Road
Contractors will complete work on the new SH2 Tauranga bound slip lane near the Domain Road interchange and there will be speed restrictions and lane closures in place from 8pm that night until midnight followed by temporary closures between the hours of 9am and 4pm on Monday December 15 and Tuesday December 16.
Monday December 15 – SH2 between Domain Road and Welcome Bay Road
Stop / go and speed restrictions of 30km/h will be in place on Monday December 15 between the hours of 7pm and midnight to allow contractors to safely remove line marking and to place concrete barriers. Manual stop / go along with a 30km/h temporary speed restriction will be in place.
The Transport Agency thanks drivers for their patience and understanding while these works are under way.
