Man transported from serious accident in
Wairarapa
5 January 2015
At approximately 6:30pm this evening the Life Flight Trust responded to a serious road crash near Ngawi on the Wairarapa South Coast.
Life Flight responded in the Westpac Rescue Helicopter with a Wellington Free Ambulance Paramedic on board.
The accident occurred about 1km west of Ngawi on Cape Palliser Road.
On our arrival we found a local doctor and the fire brigade attending to three patients who were in a ute which rolled over. Two of the occupants of the ute were "walking wounded" and did not require immediate attention.
The third, a Kapiti man in his 20s, was found to be in serious condition suffering from head injuries. He was treated at the scene by the helicopter team and a road crew from WFA who arrived on the scene.
The man was transported to Wellington Hospital on the Westpac helicopter. He is currently in the Emergency Department being treated and assessed.
The other other two patients were treated by the ambulance staff. I am unsure if they were transported to Masterton Hospital.
