Children’s Day and cricket at Farmers’ Market

Hastings District Council and the Hawke’s Bay Farmers’ Market are teaming up to celebrate Children’s Day and Cricket World Cup this Sunday, 1 March.

Backyard cricket and ‘bat down’ will feature at the Farmers’ Market at the Hawke’s Bay Showgrounds on Sunday. Participants in the bowling challenge could win tickets to NZ vs. Afghanistan or the West Indies vs. U.A.E. World Cup cricket matches at McLean Park. There will also be a chance to sign a giant cricket bat with a message of support for the Black Caps.

Hastings District Council Events Coordinator Craig Ireson says “We have already had over 500 Hastings and Havelock North residents sign our giant cricket bats at various events around the district. There is a real groundswell of support for the Black Caps, and we want them to know that the whole region is behind them in their quest for glory.”

Craig Ireson says “The first Sunday of every month is Kid’s Day at the Farmers’ Market. The market is a great place for families to enjoy great local food and entertainment, just kick back or take part in the cricket related activities.”
