Expect delays when travelling on Western Bay of Plenty Roads as major reseal programme and work on the Tauranga Eastern Link (TEL) continues

Motorists are urged to take care on the roads and allow extra time when travelling in the Western Bay of Plenty this week, as work on the Tauranga Eastern Link and a major reseal programme continues.

The reseal programme will be concentrated on State Highway 29 between Tauranga and the Kaimai Summit, and SH36 between Tauranga and Rotorua this coming week.

Speed restrictions of 30km/h and stop/go traffic management will be in place at various state highway sites around the region.

Sites where delays of between five and 15 minutes are possible are detailed below to allow motorists to plan ahead when travelling

SH29 between Tauranga and the Kaimai summit

There will be seven reseal sites between the Ruahihi River Bridge and the Kaimai summit. Speed restrictions of 30km/h will be in place during the resealing works.

Motorists are advised to allow an extra 10 minutes when travelling on this route.

SH36 between Tauranga and Rotorua

There will be four reseal sites in place between Mangatoi to Taumata Road (northern intersection).

Speed restrictions of 30km/h will be in place and motorists are advised to allow an extra 10 minutes when travelling on this route.

SH2 Waihi and Katikati - Bridgman Lane reinstatement works

Speed restrictions and traffic management will be in place on SH2 at Bridgman Lane from Monday March 23 for approximately six weeks to allow contractors to carry out road repairs following a slip. Motorists are advised to drive with care in this area. Traffic management and speed restrictions will be in place around the site and short delays are possible at times.

SH2 Papamoa, Doman Road Intersection

A series of lane closures will be in place in this area from Friday March 20 until Thursday March 26 as work on the Tauranga Eastern Link (TEL) continues. A speed restriction of 50km/h will be in place and motorists are advised to expect delays of up to ten minutes at times.
