Vacancies on Ethnic People’s Advisory Panel
Vacancies on Ethnic People’s Advisory Panel
There
are now two vacancies on the Ethnic People’s Advisory
Panel following the resignation of a second member;Kafeba
Pergoleze Alvis Mundele. Stephen Berry of the Affordable
Auckland group is keenly watching the situations vacant
section of his local paper for the vacancies to be
advertised.
“As an ethnic person passionate about the issues that are important to ethnic people, I believe I would be a fantastic representative on the panel.”
Mr. Berry is concerned about the increasing number of ethnic people who are being priced out of the housing market by the restrictive policies of Auckland Council. “I am one of tens of thousands of ethnic people who no longer expect to ever be able to own a home because prices are kept artificially high by the Council’s refusal to abolish the urban limit. If appointed to the Ethnic People’s Advisory Panel, I will use my position to lobby the Council on the behalf of all ethnic people.
“Rates are becoming increasingly unaffordable for retired ethnic people. As many survive on national superannuation while the value of their property increases, they face having to move out of their homes and losing their independence.
Stephen Berry has a lot of admiration for the way the Ethnic Peoples Advisory Panel has opposed racism in the workplace. “I’m sure they will be only too keen to demonstrate that by welcoming me onto the panel to assist in such a worthy cause.”
“My CV has been primed and readied to apply to be on the panel as soon as vacancies are advertised. I’ll be donating my payment for each meeting I attend to Grey Power to assist retired ethnic persons struggling to pay their rates.”
