Residents’ chance to speak to councillors and council staff
A display and sessions with councillors and council staff are scheduled for Rotorua residents who want to discuss or find out more about Rotorua Lakes Council’s proposed Long-term Plan.
The council is seeking feedback and submissions on a consultation document setting out the challenges Council faces and what’s proposed for the Long-term Plan 2015-2025. It will set the direction for services and projects during the next 10 years.
There will be an information display at the library (Haupapa St) from next Tuesday, 19 May. People will be able to comment on feedback cards if they do not wish to make a formal submission and for those who do, submission forms and copies of the consultation document will be available.
People will also be able to speak with councillors and council staff during scheduled “live” sessions.
The display will be up until 2 June when submissions to the Long-term Plan close.
The process for developing the long-term plan is different to previous years. In the past a plan has been drafted and then released for submissions. This time the plan won’t be developed until after the public consultation process has been undertaken and feedback considered by the council.
The 44-page consultation document is a summary of the council’s key programmes and proposed activities and includes information about the cost of services and projects, and how it is proposed they will be funded, including proposed rates increases and debt levels. The document seeks the community’s feedback on a series of proposals.
Speak to staff and councillors about the Long-term Plan:
