New Council members for Bay of Plenty Polytechnic
The Council of Bay of Plenty Polytechnic welcome two new
community Council members this month, Mike Chapman and Gavin
Frost.
The eight-strong Council comprises four ministerial appointees and four community representatives. Each community representative is chosen for their skills, experience and connectedness to industry, community, tangata whenua, and/or secondary and tertiary education. The new appointees will serve a four year term.
Mr Chapman is Chief Executive of New Zealand Kiwifruit Growers (NZKGI) and brings a wealth of governance experience to the Council. He chairs and serves on a number of kiwifruit industry committees with previous appointments including Defence Force Solicitor, Chief Counsel at the Commerce Commission Professional Standards Director for the Auckland District Law Society and Chief Executive of Kiwifruit NZ.
Mr Frost is Regional Manager (Bay of Plenty and Waikato) for professional services consultancy Beca. A structural engineer and experienced strategist, Mr Frost is an active member (and vice chairman) of the Export NZ BOP Executive Committee and is the engineering representative on the INSTEP (Industry and Schools Training Enterprise Partnership) Steering Group.
Ian Turner, Council Chairperson, is delighted to welcome the two new highly skilled and experienced members of the Council.
“We’re looking forward to working together to progress Bay of Plenty Polytechnic’s vision of making a significant contribution to the economic, social and cultural development of Tauranga Moana and the Bay of Plenty,” said Mr Turner.
Mr Turner also acknowledged the significant contribution from outgoing community representatives, Dr Bryan Gould and Paul Logan.
The Bay of Plenty Polytechnic Council Ministerial appointees are Ian Turner (Chair), Dr Neil Barnes (Deputy Chair), Julie Chadwick and Rahera Ohia. The Council appointed community representatives are Mike Chapman, Gavin Frost, Sylvia Willison and Graham Young.
