Projects
A section of Vector’s 203 lateral gas pipeline which runs under the Waitara River has been excavated, inspected and recoated, to ensure the continued reliability of gas supply into New Plymouth.
A coffer dam was constructed from the riverbank out into the middle of the Waitara River, to give crews a dry platform of land to work from. The gas pipeline was exposed, the old coating removed and the pipeline condition assessed, to confirm its integrity. The pipeline was then re-wrapped in an improved coating, and mechanical shielding protection was applied, before the pipeline was reburied.
The project was completed in seven days. Upon completion, the coffer dam was removed and the river returned to its original condition. This recoating project has future-proofed the pipeline, and has helped ensure a continued secure gas supply into New Plymouth.
