Tickets go on sale for Civic Theatre’s Celebrate 75 birthday concert

Showcasing performances by dance troupes, cultural groups, local singers and musicians, Rotorua Civic Theatre’s 75th birthday celebration concert next month promises to be an entertaining evening for all ages to enjoy.

Celebrate 75 will take to the Civic Theatre stage at the Sir Howard Morrison Performing Arts Centre at 7.30pm on Friday 17 July, and local people have the opportunity to be part of the celebrations.

Rotorua Lakes Council performing arts director, Richard Marshall, said the Civic Theatre had played an important role in the community over the past 75 years hosting many live performances, theatrical shows, movies, conferences, weddings and other events.

He said the council was now looking forward to rolling out the red carpet for a special community variety concert to celebrate the theatre’s significant milestone birthday, however with less than 700 seats available, he encouraged people to get in quick.

“Celebrate 75 will be a one night-only celebration that locals will not want to miss. It will be an amazing showcase of talent by performers of all ages and genres contributing to the big birthday bash.

“I urge people to get in and purchase their tickets early as a sell-out is on the cards. Tickets to a pre-show soiréewith drinks and canapés are also available, providing a chance for guests to mix and mingle before the main event begins.”

Celebrate 75 will feature an array of artists including the Vicki Le Fleming Whitmore Academy of Dancing, Ellis Carrington, The Edward Brothers and the Thermaleles. Also appearing will be the Sulphur City Square Dance Club, BellyVegas, AMJAZZ, Breakthrew Dance Academy, Anne Samson School of Ballet, Dance 2 Inspire, and Dance Factory NZ.

Seats are $40 for the show, with pre-show drinks and canapés tickets also on sale for an additional $55. Tickets can be purchased from the Ticketmaster box office at the Sir Howard Morrison Performing Arts Centre, or online atticketmaster.co.nz (booking fees apply).
