The following quote is from Lisa Buckingham, Festival Manager. “This year’s American Express Queenstown Winter Festival Street Parade had the theme of sustainability. We were thrilled at the variety of different floats, all of which introduced a different angle on how to protect our local environment. Being in such a pristine, world-famous natural location means that Queenstown has to take sustainability very seriously. We’ve got more to lose here – so we need to protect it very carefully. Today’s turnout was great and the different parade float concepts will stimulate local awareness of sustainability issues.”

The parade took place in bright sunshine with over 5,000 locals and visitors lining the streets of central Queenstown. The American Express Queenstown Winter Festival Street Parade was preceded by the OtterBox Golden mile, a street race in which many well known local personalities, dressed in colourful costumes, run two laps of the street parade route.
