Vector Network summary for week ending 5 July 2015
Electricity
Our crews were kept busy with several pole replacements during the week. A pole was damaged by a house fire in Howick, and three car v pole incidents, in Hillsborough, Remuera and Papatoetoe Central, meant poles had to be replaced there too.
Power was isolated to the house fire in Howick to allow emergency repairs to be carried out to our network. Our contractors also isolated power to other house fires during the week, in Kawakawa Bay and Massey.
Lines down were reported in Browns Bay during the week. There was no damage to our network, but a Chorus asset was damaged. Our crews were stood down by emergency services after a report of lines down in Waitakere.
Gas
Third parties were responsible for four gas incidents resulting in damage to our network during the week. These occurred in Hamilton East, Mt Eden, Epsom and Remuera. Necessary repairs were made by our crews.
Projects
Vector has just completed a relocation project at the intersection of Chivalry Road and Diana Drive, Glenfield. Overhead 33kV, 11kV and low voltage lines were relocated from overhead to underground, to allow Auckland Transport to realign the road.
The work involved installing new power poles, underground duct installation, pulling, terminating and commissioning cables, then removing the old overhead lines. The work took four4 weeks to complete.
This was a joint project between Vector and Auckland Transport.
