Wakatipu Dental Clinic Opening
9 July 2015
Wakatipu Dental Clinic Opening -
Friday 10 July @ 11.30 am
The District Oral Health Service of the Southern DHB would like to advise that on 29th June 2015, they completed the final Community Dental Clinic build for the Southern region. A formal opening will be held on Friday 10 July at 11.30 am at the new clinic which is at 20 Douglas Street, Frankton. The clinic will be opened by Southern DHB Chief Executive Officer, Carole Heatly.
The clinic will be operating 2 chairs with a 3rd Clinic room available to be commissioned at a later date in recognition of the population increase in the Lakes District, Central Otago.
This clinic completes the Southern DHB’s project that was part of a nationwide program that overhauled the way dental services were provided to the school children with an emphasis on prevention, education and input from parents.
This was by far the largest investment in school based oral health facilities in Otago and Southland region since the Ministry of Education built the school dental clinics approximately between 1930s – 1960s.
This new dental clinic will
now combine Arrowtown and Queenstown school dental clinics
which will continue to provide a comprehensive oral health
service for our young people from birth to 12 years of
age.
It will serve, in total, 3000 pre-schoolers,
primary school children from 7 surrounding schools and 12
early education centres in this area.
These modern
facilities will enable the clinicians who work in this new
clinic to better diagnose oral health problems and make
better treatment decisions. They will be able to provide a
standard of care that reflects their dedication and
professionalism.
