French NZ Chamber Gears Up to Celebrate French Roots
Remuera residents and passers-by should expect to hear the sound of live French Gypsy jazz and frivolity from the library this Thursday evening.
Celebrating its 89th birthday this month, the iconic heritage brick building on Remuera Road will play host to a special event to mark Bastille Day, the French national day of celebration.
It’s the second year the French New Zealand Chamber of Commerce and Industry has partnered with Remuera Business Association to organise the increasingly popular business initiative.
Nadine Plet, President, French New Zealand Chamber of Commerce and Industry considers it a key cultural date for the networking organisation to honour.
“Bastille Day celebrates our French roots. It’s important, historical and a wonderful occasion for us to gather together and create business opportunities in the cosy atmosphere of the magnificent local library.”
Remuera Business Association Manager, Laura Carr agrees saying it’s a “good fit” and encourages visitors to come during a time when Remuera traditionally empties out over the July school holidays.
The special function sponsored by Air France and Bayleys Real Estate, will run from 6.30pm to 9pm and is part of a month-long calendar of activities during the French festival which originally started in 2012.
Limited tickets are still available to members of the public for the July 16 event by contacting info@fnzcci.org.nz.
