Wild weekend weather
Wild weekend weather
Network summary for week ending 19 July 2015
Electricity
Saturday’s wild storm saw many trees toppled on to lines throughout the Auckland region. The downed lines caused outages from Wellsford through to Takanini. However, the short, sharp duration of the event meant that extra rostered crews were able to begin repairs immediately and restore customers quickly. It’s a timely reminder that overgrown trees not only cause outages but they also prevent our crews from repairing equipment quickly and delay the process of restoring power to customers. Managing trees is a community responsibility and by working together, Vector and property owners can help prevent power outages and keep the community safe. If you see a tree growing into our network lines, please report it and we will send someone to inspect it.
Our crews were kept busy repairing Vector assets at several car vs pole incidents during the week, in Onehunga, Dannemora, Highland Park, Otara, Mt Wellington, Avondale, Manukau and Ranui. Vector equipment escaped damage at just one of these incidents.
Our network control room isolated
power to house/building fires in Glendene, Waitoki,
Manurewa, Henderson South, St Johns and Otara during the
week.
Gas
There was third party damage to our gas network in Otahuhu during the week. Our service provider was able to isolate the damage, with only one customer losing supply. There were two other incidents of third party damage during the week, in Henderson and Hamilton.
