Civic Honour Awards deadline extended

The Palmerston North Civic Honour Award nominations are to be extended from 31 July 2015 to 5.00pm Friday 14 August 2015.

The annual Civic Honour Awards were established in 1988. They are the city's highest honour for volunteer work and celebrate and highlight the efforts of individual volunteers. Those who give up their time to help ensure community groups and organisations tick.

Mayor Smith says making a nomination is an easy way to recognise people for their contribution. "To shine a little bit of light back on those who help others."

"As Mayor of Palmerston North, I want to acknowledge all volunteers. However, these awards are for those individuals who have carried out outstanding or innovative voluntary service to others in the community."

If you know a person who deserves this honour, nomination forms can be collected from the council's Customer Service Centre, libraries or here.

The Civic Honour Award's ceremony will be held in the Palmerston North Convention Centre on 29 October 2015.
