‘Goals for Girls’ documentary shows how to kick female stereotypes
The Auckland Women’s Centre’s latest documentary ‘Goals for Girls’ is an inspirational documentary that reminds viewers to support society’s most vulnerable young women.
This movie is featured in the fabulous film night, one of many feminist documentaries brought to New Zealand by the Centre and will be playing at the Capitol on Sunday the 16th of August.
This film will be supporting the Young Women’s Project in Mount Roskill and Mangere East, which will empower women to accomplish their dreams in the same way the Argentinian women from ‘Goals for Girls’ were inspired to achieve.
‘Goals for Girls’ tells the story of women from the slums of Buenos Aires who overcome the stereotypes to achieve their goals, challenging the stereotypes that restrict women in Latin America.
“This documentary explores what it takes for girls to score goals on the field and reach their life goals, when their families and society sees them as only future maids or criminals”.
The Young Women’s Project was created because young women in New Zealand face similar challenges to achieve their dreams and require support to help realise their ambitions.
This event is part of The Auckland Women's Centre's fundraising activities to ensure its continued support for the empowerment of women. To buy tickets, call 09 376 3227 or email info@womenz.org.nz.
