EV Charger – a star

EV Charger – a star

The free public EV charger at 101 Carlton Gore Road continues to be well patronised with a number of car magazines using the charging site for photo shoots. Don’t forget, Vector offers a free coffee to those wanting to get a charge for their EV (just check in with reception) and Vector is also giving away another prize for the 150th EV to plug in. The lucky driver of the 100th car on charge took away a double ticket to a Vector Arena concert two weeks ago.

Network summary for week ending 23 August 2015
Electricity

A car vs pole in Forrest Hill saw no damage to Vector’s network, but our crews on site advised that a Chorus asset had been damaged. There were four other car v pole incidents in Papatoetoe, Swanson, Stanmore Bay and Whenuapai during the week.

There were house fires in Browns Bay, Wiri, Parnell, Papakura and Sunnynook during the week. Our crews isolated power to these sites for safety.

Gas

Our service providers attended to reports of gas odours in Torbay and Paraparaumu during the week. No trace of gas escape was found at either location.

Third party damage to our gas network occurred in Grey Lynn, Epsom and Morningside. Only three customers lost supply as a result, and all necessary repairs were carried out by our crews.

Projects

As part of Vector’s ongoing commitment to safety, the latest in safety system technology has been installed at Vector’s Kapuni Gas Treatment Plant to replace the existing Emergency Shutdown System (ESD). This emergency shutdown system measures variables in the plant, such as gas pressure and temperature, then activates a plant shutdown when required, in the interests of safety.
