Road Closures:

Thames

Tapu Coroglen Road has a slip at the 15km mark and surface water flooding, Transfield are attending and the road is open.

Old Maratoto Road, Wires Road, Kauaeranga Valley Road and Otamakite Road are all clossed due to the fords being impassable.

SH25 is closed at Prescotts Garage.

Davy, Albert and Brown Streets and Fergusson Drive have surface flooding due to the high tide, the roads are passable with caution and the water is receeding.

Waiotahi Road has water over the ford, it is passable with care.

Thames Coast
Victoria Street number 2 ford and Waiomu Valley Road are both closed due to the fords being flodded.

Whangamata, Tairua and Pauanui
Wentworth Valley Road is closed due to surface water flooding.

Coromandel
The fords on the Port Jackson Road are in flood, but the road is open.

The 309 Road has small slips and trees down, but the road is open, caution is advised.

The Kennedy Bay Road has surface water flooding, small trees and debris, the road is open and is being monitored.

SH25, Coromandel at the 309 Road tunoff up to Pound Street has surface water flooding, the road is open and caution is advised.

Te Kouma Road has 3 slips which are coned and signed, but the road is open.

Port Charles Road is closed due to a tree over the road (50m north of Adlor Hill Road).

Karangahake Gorge may need to close due to rising river level

Waikato Regional Council’s hazards team is warning motorists and the general public that the Karangahake Gorge road may need to close this afternoon due to the rise of the Ohinemuri River because of heavy rain.

It’s also possible temporary flood protection structures may go up on the Criterion Bridge at Paeroa, preventing traffic for getting into the town from the direction of Hamilton.
