100 top Aussie travel agents descend on Rotorua
Rotorua - 10 September 2015:
One hundred of Australia’s top performing travel agents arrived in Rotorua today [10 September], ready to explore the district and experience the range of the visitor attractions and activities that make Rotorua so high on visitors’ itineraries.
The Australian agents, part of a 400-strong ‘All Stars Mega Famil,’ have been selected by Tourism New Zealand for their sales performance and record of selling New Zealand.
Arriving in Auckland on Monday, they participated in a number of workshops, including training sessions with Destination Rotorua which teamed up with regional partners Destination Great Lake Taupo, Tourism Bay of Plenty, Coromandel and Hamilton Waikato Tourism.
Destination Rotorua provided interactive workshops promoting the Central North Island’s unrivalled touring routes and itinerary options, emphasising Rotorua’s iconic attractions and unique selling propositions.
“The opportunity for Destination Rotorua to deliver one-on-one training sessions with Australia’s top travel agents has been invaluable,” says Destination Rotorua General Manager Oscar Nathan. “The team focused on providing them with the knowledge and tools to maximise the length of stay they’ll recommend that their customers have in Rotorua.
“Our mountain biking festivals and Redwoods trails were of particularly high interest and seen as something new and exciting to promote, alongside our unique cultural, geothermal and adventure experiences.”
Tourism New Zealand’s Director Trade, PR & Major Events, René de Monchy, said that having 400 agents in the country at one time meant that the group would be able to visit more regions than on any other previous ‘famil.’
“Visiting during September will help agents sell off-peak travel on their return, in turn growing shoulder season travel to New Zealand and easing the peak season load.”
