Council Call Centre a stand out at ALGIM Customer Service Awards

Palmerston North City Council’s Customer Services team has been recognised at the Association of Local Government Information Management’s Customer Service Awards held at the Convention Centre last night.

Palmerston North entered three categories, and won the Contact Centre Team of the Year Award.

Business Manager for Contact Services Peter Roberts, received the Local Government Manager of the Year award, with Regional Team Leader Helen Kohunui winning the Professional Development Award. Contact Service Advisor Sasha Hammel, was runner up for Local Government Customer Service Representative of the Year and Regional Team Leader Sonya Mudgway, was also runner up for Local Government Customer Service Team Leader of the Year.

“It is great to be recognised with local government for the work we do. We have been on this journey for four years so the awards last night were well deserved,” says Business Manager for Contact Services, Peter Roberts.

“Having the evening hosted in Palmerston North was a great opportunity to have all team leaders there which made the night a great success.”

A total of 36 Councils and one hundred delegates attended the awards ceremony sponsored by Vodafone.

There were 27 entries across all six categories which recognise and celebrate best practice in Customer Service amongst New Zealand local authorities.

General Manager of Customer Services Peter Eathorne says it reflects the high calibre of the service and staff involved.

“It’s a credit in terms of the hard work and professionalism of the team to achieve such a high standard of performance. ALGIM have clearly recognised this based on the number of awards that the team won tonight.”

The Awards promote the image of Local Government customer service through the wider community which has been running since 2008.

They aim to encourage Local Government staff to be service focused, to be innovative, to develop skills and to be recognised in supporting their organisation and community of interest.
