Transpower awards maintenance contracts

Transpower awards maintenance contracts for Waikato, Taranaki and Hawkes Bay

Transpower today announced that it had successfully negotiated and awarded contracts for the servicing and maintenance of its assets in Hamilton/Bay of Plenty, Taranaki, and Hawkes Bay.

This follows a recent review of national maintenance contract pricing as part of a programme to realise further efficiencies in the operation and maintenance of the National Grid.

In the process of evaluating submissions and renegotiating pricing, Transpower moved to four rather than five service providers, and has been tendering those areas previously serviced by the outgoing provider.

Transpower’s General Manager Grid Performance Jim Tocher said that a thorough process had led to successful tenders and that negotiations had now been completed.

“As of 30 October 2015, Northpower will take up the contract for servicing and maintenance of the Hamilton/Bay of Plenty region, Electrix will be responsible for the Taranaki region and Transfield Services NZ for the Hawkes Bay region. The contracts are for a three year period,” he said.
