SCIRT traffic update: Week starting Monday, 19 October, 2015


GOOD NEWS
• Residents and commuters in east Christchurch will be pleased one of their main thoroughfares, Breezes Rd, is this week re-opening to two-way traffic between Pages Rd and Wainoni Rd after more than 4 months one-way.
• Although there is still some work to complete in Breezes Rd near the Wainoni Rd intersection which will require another short closure there, this is some weeks away.
• Also the one-way section of Pages Rd is shortening with the re-opening this week to two-way traffic between Shuttle Dr and Shortland St.

MAIN ROADS - expect delays especially during peak times
Barbadoes St, road rebuild works start on Monday 19 October, for 8 weeks. The work is undertaken on one side of the road at a time to allow two-way traffic. The works are between 431 and 471 Barbadoes St near the Bealey Ave intersection.
Marshland Rd between The Palms and 123 Marshland Rd is undergoing road repairs. Two-way traffic is maintained but reduced lanes may cause delays. Please look out for pedestrians and cyclists.
Papanui Rd – between Innes Rd and Murray Pl has two-way traffic maintained but has bus lane and cycle lane closures, lane shifts and turning restrictions at the Innes Rd and Papanui Rd intersection. Please take care here.

SCIRT in the Central City
Moorhouse Ave Bridge is down to one lane on each side for another 3 weeks.
Fitzgerald Ave has reduced lanes between Gloucester and Worcester Sts and between St Asaph St and Ferry Rd for the next 4 weeks. Please consider alternative routes at peak times.
Manchester St is one-way southbound between Hereford St and Lichfield St.

Fendalton - major wastewater works are soon to start in Holmwood Rd and Garden Rd.
Holmwood Rd will be closed from Tuesday 27 October for 3 weeks for reconnection of individual properties’ lateral pipes to a new main wastewater pipe. Ithas been one-way westbound since mid-September for replacement of wastewater pipes.
• Holmwood Rd will revert to one-way westbound after the lateral reconnections are finished.
Garden Rd will be closed from Tuesday 27 October for about 18 weeks for wastewater repairs. The repairs are in 3 stages of about 6 weeks each. Keep an eye out for signs which will confirm the dates closer to this time.

Beach Rd, New Brighton – major wastewater works underway
Beach Rd has a progressive road closure. A section crew started last week just west of the shops at Bower Ave and will progress for 3 months towards Effingham St. The first stage, between 144 Beach Road and Bower Ave, may take about 3 weeks.
• The closure along Beach Road between Frosts Rd and Ascot Ave will progress over 9 months with several sections being worked on.
Please keep an eye out for changes and detours.

Marine Parade, New Brighton – night works, road closures
Marine Parade has CCTV investigations and pipe lining of the wastewater main pipe between 7pm and 6am. The work will be in 3 sections over 2 months. Section 1 is Beach Rd to Pandora St, section 2 is Pandora to Pacific Rd, and section 3 is Pacific Rd to Effingham St.

Aranui/Wainoni
Please take extra care around this busy area as SCIRT installs a new resilient vacuum wastewater system for this community. See the Aranui map for bus routes and detours.

Breezes Rd between Pages Rd and Wainoni Rd will be open to two-way traffic this week, as discussed above.
• The one-way section of Pages Rd is shortening with the re-opening this week to two-way traffic between Shuttle Dr and Shortland St.
• The south side of the Pages Rd-Rowan Ave intersection is closed for another week.
Merrington Cres is one-way (towards Marlow Rd).
Marlow Rd remains one-way from Doreen St to Pages Rd for road repairs.
Eureka St has a progressive road closure between 3 Eureka St and Cheriton St until the end of October.
Portsmouth St is closed between Ben Rarere Ave and Wainoni Rd for about 2 weeks.
Sandown Cres is one-way, heading south for 2 weeks.
Carisbrooke St is one-way between Winchfield St and the end of the cul-de-sac for about 5 weeks.
Corhampton St and Netley Place have rolling road closures for 2 weeks.

The Yellow bus detour is now along Marlow Rd but please visit the Metro websitewww.metroinfo.org.nz or phone Metro Info on 366 8855 for any bus service changes.

Work in other suburbs

Redcliffs
•Moncks Spur has one lane closed for uphill traffic between numbers 119 and 146 for 6 months. Detour is via Glenstrae Road. A new traffic management plan using signals is being looked into.
•Glenstrae Rd has retaining wall repairs for about 5 months from Monday 19 October. Two-way traffic will be maintained from numbers 15 to 35 at the second uphill hairpin bend using temporary traffic lights.

Mt Pleasant
•Mt Pleasant Rd (between Seamount Tce and Billys Track) is closed. Detour via Major Hornbrook Rd or Soleares Ave.

Parklands
Pegasus Ave is one-way northbound between Philomel St and Endeavour St until December. It will have a road closure on Wednesday 21 October between Philomel St and Endeavour St.
Pegasus Ave between 22 Pegasus Ave and Royalist Ave will have a temporary road closure for wastewater repairs for about 10 days.
Lamorna Rd has a progressive road closure for about 8 more weeks between Queenspark Dr and Foresters Cres.
Forrest Dr has a progressive road closure between 23 Forrest Dr and Broadhaven Ave for 6 more weeks.

Burwood
New Brighton Rd between Lake Terrace Rd and Bassett St is one lane with temporary traffic lights to maintain two-way traffic flow. Stop/go traffic management is in place at peak times to better manage traffic flows.
New Brighton Rd - Lake Terrace Rd intersection sis closed. Access is via Burwood Rd.

Bromley
Wickham Street is one way westbound from the Dyers Road intersection to number 14, from 21 October for 3 weeks. There is no exit from Wickham Street onto Dyers Road, with a detour via Tanya Street, Newtown Street and Maces Road.

Edgeware / St Albans
Edgeware Rd between Sherborne St and Bishop St is one-way eastbound for about 3 months. There’s a short detour to the local Edgeware - St Albans businesses affected by these works. Please be a rebuild hero and make the extra effort to support your local businesses.
Bishop St is one-way for southbound traffic between Edgeware Rd and Canon St from Monday 12 October for about 2 months. Suggested detour is Madras St.

Merivale
Carlton Mill Bridge repairs are ongoing at the Harper Ave, Park Tce and Carlton Mill Rd intersection for about 3 more weeks. Two-way traffic remains but there are detours for pedestrians. Please follow all signage.

Shirley
Hills Rd (between Guild St and Dudley St) is one-way northbound. Southbound traffic please slow down along the detour, heavy traffic please take a different route.
Dudley St is closed from Slater St to Hills Rd.
Hercules St between Marshland Rd and Sabina St will be closed for around 3 weeks from Monday 12 October.
Hammersley Ave between Marshland Rd and Sabina St will be closed for around 3 weeks from Monday 12 October.

Linwood
Worcester St is closed between Woodham Rd and Dacre St, and is one-way southbound towards Linwood Ave between Dacre St and Linwood Ave.
Woodham Rd is one-way city bound between Kerrs Rd and Gloucester St. Eastbound traffic please follow the signed detour route.

Woolston
Smith St has a progressive road closure until early 2016.
Matlock St traffic can’t enter or exit Smith St until the end of October.

Addington
Selwyn St between Harman St and Poulson St will be one-way northbound towards Moorhouse Ave for about 4 weeks.
