Vegetation Removal Scheduled this week
The Palmerston North City Council is asking motorists using Tennent Drive to be patient this week as arborists remove a number of trees throughout the banked road reserve adjacent to Massey University.
Stop and go traffic controls will be in place from 9:00am to 3:45pm on Wednesday October 21 and Thursday October 22.
The operation is scheduled to remove a number of dead, dangerous and storm damaged trees.
Palmerston North City Council Contract Engineer Horticulture Murray Phillips says the operation will involve culling a number of dead trees, the removal of split and hanging branches from several macrocarpa trees resulting from the June storm, as well as removing smaller wattle trees that could potentially prove hazardous in future weather events.
“With traffic control in place, motorists may experience delays of 5-10 minutes during the course of the removal operation. However having large equipment on site such as diggers and chippers will make the operation a lot faster and keep these delays to a minimum.”
Traffic entering and exiting Massey University via Main Drive will not be disrupted.
