VOLUNTEERING THE NEIGHBOURLY WAY
Volunteering New Zealand (VNZ) is pleased to announce its partnership with website Neighbourly.co.nz - a commitment to working together to support and promote volunteering efforts in New Zealand communities.
Volunteering New Zealand Chief Executive Scott Miller says the impact of informal volunteering in our communities is sometimes difficult to measure but easy to see.
“Volunteering, even if a small effort, is a very neighbourly act,” he says. “Neighbourly is a great tool for connecting locals looking for volunteering opportunities with those who are looking for local volunteers.
“We’re aware of many volunteering relationships already formed throughNeighbourly.co.nz and encourage the use of this channel to further volunteering in our neighbourhoods.”
Neighbourly Community Partnerships Manager, Maureen Glassey says Neighbourly has always been intended as a platform to connect members wishing to volunteer with others in need.
“Neighbourly is the perfect platform to celebrate the thousands of kindnesses which are happening in our community every day, and to inspire others to make similar interactions in their own neighbourhoods,” she says. “Just a few moments spent reaching out to lend a hand can make a huge contribution to community. We’re proud to be working closely with the team at VNZ to support volunteering as a way of giving back to your neighbourhood.”
Neighbourly.co.nz was launched in June 2014 as an easy way for neighbours to talk and share online through free and private websites for their suburbs. Neighbourly has over 175,000 members across 2,000 neighbourhoods with hundreds of new members joining throughout New Zealand every day.
Volunteering New Zealand (VNZ) is an association of New Zealand organisations that have a commitment to volunteering - such as volunteer centres, national and other organisations. Their mission is to promote, support and advocate for volunteering. www.volunteeringnz.org.nz
