Auckland City Mission seeks angels to volunteer at key December events
Auckland City Mission is seeking volunteers to help with two key events this December.
The annual Street Appeal and the Mission’s stand at
the Silo Park Markets require volunteers to help raise
awareness and vital funds for the Mission’s work.
The
weeks leading up to Christmas mark the busiest time of year
for the organisation.
This year, the Mission needs
to raise $1.3 million over the Christmas period in order to
continue providing services and support to Aucklanders in
desperate need, now and throughout the year.
Auckland
City Missioner, Dame Diane Robertson, says now is the time
when the Mission’s motto, “Aucklanders helping
Aucklanders,” really shines.
“Christmas can be an incredibly difficult time for struggling families and it’s wonderful to see the wider community come together to support our most vulnerable residents,” she says.
“After 22 years at the Mission, I am still struck by the overwhelming generosity displayed by Aucklanders, both at Christmas and throughout the year. Please consider donating your time this December to help support people in our community in desperate need.”
How to get involved:
The Mission’s annual Street Appeal will be held on Friday, December 4th and Saturday, December 5th. Volunteers are needed to collect donations on one or both days at various collection points around the CBD, Ponsonby and Newmarket.
The Mission will be selling angel wings at the Silo Park Markets on weekends throughout December. Volunteers are needed to help run the Mission’s stall, speak to visitors about the Mission and sell paper angel wings.
Both of these events are a great opportunity to give back to the community this December. For more information on either or both events, or to register as a volunteer, please email Christina Grey at christina.g@aucklandcitymission.org.nz, or call 09 303 9781.
